Battle of the YouTube stars!
According to TMZ on Tuesday, musician/viral personality Mars Argo (above, right) filed a lawsuit claiming fellow vlogger Poppy (above, left) has copied her “identity, likeness and expression of ideas” in “YouTube segments, music videos, live performances, internet videos, and other performances or shows.”
Apparently, all of the drama stems from Argo’s former relationship with Titanic Sinclair, Poppy’s collaborator.
Reportedly, Argo — who also goes by Brittany Alexandria Sheets — and Titanic were in a relationship for five years before he allegedly became violent and suicidal.
After the split, Titanic — whose real name is Corey Michael Mixter — allegedly started working with Poppy, AKA Moriah Rose Pereira, who allegedly mimicked Argo’s musical style and physical appearance.
Argo is suing her former boyfriend for “emotional and psychological abuse” and copyright infringement. She is also “seeking a domestic violence restraining order against Mr. Mixter in state court… so Ms. Sheets is protected from further retaliation and abuse as a result of this lawsuit.”
Argo’s lawyer, Matthew Umhofer, told the website:
“Both Mr. Mixter [Titanic] and Poppy are frauds. Their only artistry is con artistry: Their only original creation is the suffering they’ve caused my client.”
On Tuesday, Argo went on Twitter to seemingly comment on Titanic’s alleged abuse. She wrote:
I started this journey long before the #metoo movement found its footing, but I so am grateful for the brave women who shared their stories before me. I hope that by telling mine, I can be a voice for those who come after me pic.twitter.com/4uT7QHhEtz
