ICYMI, Scarlett Johansson wore Marchesa to the 2018 Met Gala.

Yes, Marchesa. That Marchesa. The same Marchesa led by Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein. Since fans hadn’t seen a look from the label on a red carpet ever since the expos├â┬⌐ on Weinstein came out, ScarJo’s choice came across as a bold statement.

Well, guess what. Colin Jost‘s lady has a statement, alright!

Via E! News, the Avengers actress says of her choice:

“I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers.”

And this is what Marchesa had to say:

“We are truly honored that Scarlett chose to wear Marchesa for the Met Gala. She is an amazingly talented actor who has incredible style and presence. It was wonderful to work so closely with her in creating this custom look.”

Scarlett isn’t Marchesa’s only defender, as there are still fans on Twitter who find it unfair to blame Georgina for anything her husband did.

This tweet about sums it up:

The passion!
