Roseanne Barr just tweeted herself into Twitter retirement.

The comedian was condemned on Tuesday for attacking former Barack Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett in a disturbingly racist tweet. She joked that Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the movie Planet of the Apes. Yes, really.

Jarrett is African American and has no ties to the Sunni Muslim group known as the Muslim Brotherhood, but right-wing critics have regularly attacked her over rumors that she secretly intended to promote Islam in the United States.

The Roseanne star’s jab came in response to a tweet that accused Jarrett of helping the Obama administration cover up alleged misdeeds. In the since-deleted tweet, she wrote:

“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj”

The fuck?

When users pointed out that the tweet seemed racist, the actress replied, “Muslims r NOT a race.”

Okay, but how is that revolting Planet of the Apes line not about race, Ro-ro?

Insisting her first tweet was a “bad joke,” the ABC star later issued an apology to Jarrett and announced that she would be leaving Twitter, sharing:

To make matters worse, Rosanne brought up Jarrett in response to an unrelated Twitter comment on an SGT Report article that claimed the Obama CIA had spied on the president of France, and Jarrett’s name wasn’t even mentioned in the piece!

Ugh. Leave the bad jokes for your reboot, Roseanne. BTW, no word from ABC about their employee… yet.
