We already know GOP lawmakers are dumb enough to endorse arming teachers with guns as a means of preventing school shootings. Some are apparently even dumber.
In his new Showtime series Who Is America?, Sacha Baron Cohen was able to convince several politicians that the solution to school shootings was to arm children with guns. The result was a segment as hilarious as it was terrifying.
Sunday’s premiere episode saw the actor transformed into Col. Erran Morad, an Israeli “terrorist terminator” promoting a program that arms children as young as three years old with guns. Surprisingly, several Republican politicians supported the “kinder-guardians” program.
Former congressman Joe Walsh, former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, California congressman Dana Rohrabacher, and South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson all read their approval of the plan in a PSA.
But none of that compared to the idiocy of gun rights activist Philip Van Cleave, who enthusiastically filmed a Sesame Street-esque infomercial alongside Cohen’s character teaching kids how to use firearms hidden inside stuffed animals, like the “Puppy Pistol.” Watch the insanity for yourself (above).
