While the divorce isn’t yet finalized, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are legally single.
Thanks to a legal move known as a bifurcation, a judge ruled the Mr. & Mrs. Smith costars single and ready to mingle, with the actress dropping “Pitt” from her legal last name, and is now back to just “Jolie,” according to court documents filed on Friday.

A source shared with People following the bifurcation:
“Both parents are focused on what’s best for the kids.”
Not really sure how this matters to the kids… but ok!!
The former couple requested this maneuver while they navigate their divorce settlement, though they have already worked out a custody agreement over their brood of six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
Angie’s lawyer confirmed the news in a statement to Reuters in late November:
“A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge. The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.”
However, things might not be going so smoothly after all!
An insider divulged to Us Weekly in March that the Troy actor might not be so thrilled with his soon-to-be ex-wife bringing his kids to recent red carpet appearances:
“Brad isn’t thrilled that Angie takes the kids to movie premieres, but it’s not going to trigger any actions. Angie has always chosen to be more public with the kids than Brad has.”
The confidant further explained that the A-listers get permission from each other before traveling with the children, but apparently movie premieres don’t seem to count:
“Brad must get Angie’s approval before traveling with the kids, as she must get permission from him as well. Brad and Angie have been on better terms since the custody trial drama was settled. There are of course, going to continue to be disagreements between them.”
Now that it seems like things may finally be coming to a close for Brangelina, hopefully the two can both move on… possibly into the arms of an ex?
Mr. Pitt was in attendance for his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston‘s 50th birthday celebration in El Lay back in February, something he likely wouldn’t have done if he was still in a relationship with the Maleficent actress. Meanwhile, the former Mrs. Jolie Pitt recently rekindled old rumors that she is interested in Colin Farrell.
We wouldn’t be mad about either coupling, TBH!
