How does one go from eating Doritos for breakfast to losing 100 pounds, launching into a modeling career, and winning the heart of Britney Spears?
Lots of hard work… and a little luck!

Telling his rags to Britches story in an interview with Men’s Health, Sam Asghari remembers a time just five years ago when he was broke, working three jobs, and “stress eating” unhealthy foods.
The 24-year-old recalled:
“I was eating Doritos for breakfast, fast food, sugar, candy, no protein, a lot of carbs, and drinking sugary sodas. My nutrition was extremely horrible. The stress and the fear of not going anywhere [in life] combined gave me my depression.”
Sam had been down in the dumps months after being cut from University of Nebraska-Lincoln‘s Division I football team as a freshman.
Forced to move back to Los Angeles, the former athlete was working three jobs and eating like he still played football. It was a lifestyle that wasn’t working for him.
That’s when Sam realized he had to make a change.

Sam quit two of his jobs and decided to focus on a career in fitness — and really started focusing on his own fitness. Within six months of working as a trainer at Gold’s Gym, he dropped 100 pounds and cut down to a trim 3% body fat.
His new physique launched him into a modeling career, which then led to the opportunity of a lifetime: a starring role in Britney’s Slumber Party video. He remembered:
“I was excited that I get to meet one of the biggest artists of all time. I had butterflies.”
And jokes, too!
Sam remembered trying to flirt with the pop star between takes, continuing:
“She said, ‘Hi, I’m Britney,’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry. What’s your name again?’ I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.”
Well, something clicked. The two exchanged phone numbers before the end of the shoot and eventually went out to get sushi.
