We all just want to find the type of guy we can bring home to Cher.
Apparently, Dominic Cooper isn’t that guy — and the music legend let him know it when they met on the set of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
The Preacher star recalled a hilarious moment when the icon found out he and costar Amanda Seyfried dated for three years after they filmed the first Mamma Mia! movie in 2008.

Much to Cooper’s delight, the 72-year-old performer joked it was probably in Seyfried’s best interest that the two didn’t work out.
He told Vanity Fair:
“She took one look at me and didn’t trust me at all—and told me so herself, which I laughed out loud at. After Amanda made it clear that we used to, once upon a time, be together, Cher said [to Seyfried], ‘You dodged a bullet there.’ “
Ha!
No one loved the jab more than Cooper, who said the two later got close and even grabbed dinner in London once they finished shooting the movie musical:
“She’s so funny. She’s a really wonderful person to be around. She was kind of just mesmerizing actually; there’s a reason she’s that popular. There’s a reason why everyone stands up and screams when she comes on-screen, because she’s someone who’s so good at doing that. She’s at her best when she’s performing. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen on a film set.”
As you know, the Mean Girls actress went on to marry Thomas Sadoski in 2017, who apparently had some reservations over her reprising her romantic role opposite her ex.
The actress recently told The Mirror:
“I think he has the same kind of issues that I would have if we were hanging out with his ex-girlfriend from long ago. I think it’s always like, ‘I’m so in love with this person, so that person must be so in love with her too.’ I’d guess he assumed Dominic is in love with me the way he’s in love with me. And it’s just not the case. It’s sweet. I’d rather he be jealous than completely fine with it. He’s been great. He’s very supportive and he loves this movie, and [he and Dominic] got along absolutely fine when we were shooting.”
We think Cooper’s more in love with Cher than anyone else.
