BMX Legend Dave Mirra Dies Of An Apparent Suicide At 41

We are at a loss for words…
On Thursday, BMX athlete Dave Mirra died of an alleged suicide. His body was discovered in his truck in Greenville, North Carolina with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The 41-year-old was in the area visiting friends.
The bike legend — who once had the record for the most X Games medals — leaves behind a wife and a child.
Earlier that day, he posted the following pic of him and his spouse on Instagram :

Mirra’s friend and fellow BMX athlete T.J. Lavin gave the following statement:

“I just wish he would have called me. I would have jumped on a plane in a second. There’s always another way. If anyone needs help, just please get it. I feel sick about this.”

In addition to his athletic pursuits, the New York-native hosted two seasons of Real World/Road Rules Challenge on MTV.
Authorities are currently investigating his death.
