Talk Shows Mercilessly Smack Down Donald Trump’s ‘Stupid Watergate’ Claims — Including One We Know POTUS Watches!

no title

Donald Trump crossed a line this weekend when he accused Barack Obama of illegally wiretapping his office at Trump Tower.

OK, it’s like the 37th line he’s crossed, but still — it’s a pretty huge deal!

Just check out how the media is responding; it’s a telling mix of outrage, confusion, and logic that is, frankly, making us feel far less alone in all this.

First up, John Oliver, who has the perfect name for this new scandal: Stupid Watergate.

It’s got the same politically charged lawbreaking accusations, but the whole thing is just so… dumb! We mean, Trump even misspelled the word “tap” in his accusation!

Not to mention, wait until you see where he may have gotten the info…

The ladies of The View had a strong reaction to the news as well.

While Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar had jokes, newbies Sunny Hostin and Jededia Bila managed to turn this whole thing around on the POTUS.

Basically, the question they’re asking is this: what if Trump WAS being legally wiretapped?

That requires a green light from a federal judge — something a government organization could only get if there was already probable cause of a crime being committed.

So… is Trump saying he was being investigated for a crime? Ha!

But probably the most notable reaction was from MSNBC‘s Morning Joe.

Why? Because Trump watches the show. He even follows anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on Twitter. These are people he listens to!

And what they’re saying today is absolutely unforgiving. Joe says:

“What Donald Trump did on Saturday morning has shaken this government and the confidence of its people to the core. It is hard to overstate how reckless that tweet was… It is one thing when a reality TV star accuses a President of a sleazy, conspiratorial theory, but when a President of the United States accuses another President, context changes and it becomes dangerous.”

And Mika goes even harder:

“This White House is a joke. I don’t know how anyone can defend this president.”

Damn. And the Donald heard that!
