Here’s what the Brothers have to say…
On the new album:
– Catchy lead single ├óΓé¼┼ôBurnin├óΓé¼Γäó Up├óΓé¼┬¥ is reminiscent of Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake. It├óΓé¼Γäós destined to be a crowd pleaser. It├óΓé¼Γäós no coincidence that the upcoming tour takes its name from the track.
– The next single, ├óΓé¼┼ôLove Bug,├óΓé¼┬¥ is a complete departure for the band. Stripped down at the beginning├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and featuring an interlude with the sound of Joe Jonas tap-dancing├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥it builds to a traditional, catchy pop ending.
– Scheduled third for release is ├óΓé¼┼ôShelf,├óΓé¼┬¥ which has guitar-driven undertones much like early Weezer. Finally, there├óΓé¼Γäós ├óΓé¼┼ôA Little Bit Longer,├óΓé¼┬¥ a ballad written by Nick Jonas out of fear and frustration when he was diagnosed three years ago with type 1 diabetes.
On song writing:
– ├óΓé¼┼ôPretty much we were writing all these songs when we were on tour, and we didn├óΓé¼Γäót have time to go into a studio and record,├óΓé¼┬¥ Joe Jonas says. ├óΓé¼┼ôThere├óΓé¼Γäós a lot of time when you├óΓé¼Γäóre on the tour bus where there├óΓé¼Γäós a lot of waiting around. We have like four hours in each day where we could really do something.├óΓé¼┬¥
– ├óΓé¼┼ôWhen we├óΓé¼Γäóre writing together, we├óΓé¼Γäóre really open to each other├óΓé¼Γäós ideas, which I think is really important when you├óΓé¼Γäóre writing songs,├óΓé¼┬¥ Nick Jonas says. ├óΓé¼┼ôNo one can be closed-minded, because then nothing is going to work. For us, it├óΓé¼Γäós really just one of our passions. It├óΓé¼Γäós kind of our roots.├óΓé¼┬¥
On Jonas mania:
– Among Jonas merchandise, there is “even a shirt dedicated to the youngest brother, 7-year-old Frankie, the ‘Bonus Jonas.’├óΓé¼┬¥ (Frankie has his own band. They do house and club music. No kidding.)
– ├óΓé¼┼ôWe have a slogan that we say every night: ├óΓé¼╦£Living the dream, baby, living the dream,├óΓé¼Γäó ├óΓé¼┬¥ Kevin Jonas Sr. says. ├óΓé¼┼ôWe gather together and shout it out, as a group, because they get to do what very few people could even imagine and dream. But at the same time, we prioritize that they have their own time. It has to be healthy.├óΓé¼┬¥
– (Case in point: All three Jonas brothers were the picture of earnest, professional politeness during their Billboard interviews. Half an hour later, while talking to their father, they sounded like typical loud teenage-boy maniacs in the background.)
