In just a few hours Madonna will be kicking off her MDNA world tour in Tel Aviv and we have all the deets on her arsenal of costumes!
According to costume designer and stylist Arianne Phillips the Queen of Pop changes outfits “seven or eight times” and the dancers change “10 to 15 times”.
Dayum!
As we predicted back in April, Jean Paul Gaultier designed a conical cone bra, but reinterpreted in 3D.
JPG’s rigid skeleton corset will be worn over a white shirt, black tie and pin-striped pants during her Vogue number while male backup dances will be clad in custom Prada high heel shoes.
The show will also feature lots of lingerie pieces from Her Madgesty’s upcoming Truth or Dare lingerie and shoe collection coming out this fall. Madonna herself will even strip down to an Agent Provocateur bra when she sings “a somber, elegiac version” of Like A Virgin.
For the Give Me All Your Luvin’ bit, Arianne designed a majorette look as well as a Joan of Arc inspired getup made with metal mesh and Swarovski crystals.
The 22 backup dancers also get a swaggy wardrobe made up of Jeremy Scott for Adidas tracksuits, re-created Gaultier archive pieces, Fausto Puglisi-designed bandolier vests and rams head masks as well as lots of S&M masks, gargoyle and bunny guises.
Tonight’s going to be EPIC! We can’t wait to see it all!
