Good news for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his family.
The surgery Kennedy had today was a success, and according to his rep, the doctors said they accomplished their goals during the six hour operation.
Dr. Matthew Ewend, neurosurgery chief at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, said “Many of us believe that the more you get out, the next treatments, whether they be radiation or chemotherapy, have a better chance of working because there’s less tumor there to fight.”
The surgeons attempted to remove as much of the tumor as possible, trying not to risk the possibility of affecting the brain’s function for movement and speech too much.
Congrats for the successful surgery.
Let’s hope he has a speedy recovery.
