Selena Gomez On Immigrant Families Being Separated At The Border: 'It's Been Affecting So Many People Who Are Close To Me'

no title
Selena Gomez is speaking out about Donald Trump‘s troubling and shameful immigration policies!
The Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation star — speaking at the movie’s premiere on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles — was clearly thinking about the people just a few miles away from her red carpet premiere who were out protesting in downtown El Lay at the Families Belong Together rally.

Gomez, who is Mexican-American and from Texas originally, had a lot to say when THR asked her about the protest event down the street, and Trump’s immigration policies in general (below):

“It’s extremely disheartening [the family separation policy] … There’s a lot of confusion and anger … It’s definitely been affecting so many people who are close to me.”

Wow!
Just yesterday, Gomez tweeted her support of the march and the protests, too (below):

And she was far from the only person at the red carpet premiere who clearly had their hearts and minds elsewhere thinking about immigrants and the problems with Trump’s administration.

Kathryn Hahn, who makes her franchise debut in this third film, shared her own thoughts (below):

“I am so grateful that I am here with my family, but how horrifying is what’s happening in our country right now?”

And film producer Michelle Murdocca added (below):

“I can’t think about it or I’ll cry. But that’s also why we do these movies. My favorite thing to do on opening weekend is I go to a lot of different theaters because there’s nothing like hearing kids laughing with their parents. And the message of the movies is all about acceptance and being yourself.”

No kidding!
