This is beyond devastating.
Back in May, 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer from Buffalo, NY released an It Gets Better video (above), which was truly inspiring and encouraging.
Despite enduring incessant bullying at school over his sexuality, he made the effort to stay strong, and he credited Lady Gaga’s Born This Way for inspiring him.
Unfortunately, even though he released such a hopeful video, the anti-gay bullying at his high school became too much for him, and he was found dead of an apparent suicide outside of his home one week after writing the following message on his blog:
“I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens. What do I have to do so people will listen to me?”
Such a tragedy! It truly baffles and disturbs us that people feel the need to torment each other over issues such as sexuality and appearance.
Let this be a wake-up call that we MUST fully commit ourselves to putting a stop to this kind of behavior!
