A California boy tragically died on Valentine’s Day. He was literally stabbed in the heart.
15-year-old David Gutierrez of San Jose sadly lost his life after reportedly being attacked by a “group of juveniles” at Santana Row shopping center in Santa Clara. And to make the situation even more tragic, he was on a Valentine’s Day date when the attack occurred. His family shared the news in a GoFundMe:
“02/14/25, David S. Gutierrez, a 15-year-old, was attacked by a group of juveniles in Santa Clara while he was on a date with his girlfriend to celebrate Valentine’s Day. He was beaten and then stabbed in the heart.”

So completely awful. According to a statement released by the San Jose Police Department, “officers immediately began life saving measures” before transporting the teen to a local hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his wound. His family added in their announcement that he sadly didn’t even “make it to surgery.” They heartbreakingly wrote:
“We lost our baby.”
How devastating…
In a statement issued to ABC7News on Monday, David’s family wrote:
“Our precious young boy is an amazing young man whose life was taken too soon at the young age of 15. He was enrolled in college-bound classes to help him prepare for college. He was active in the community church activities.”
Absolutely tragic. He had such a bright future.
The SJPD noted that at this time, the suspects remain unidentified, but urge anyone with information to contact them at [email protected] and/or [email protected] or at 408-277-5283.
