Father of 16 & Pregnant Star Whitney Purvis' Son Breaks Silence on Death -- As Stepmom Hits Back At Fentanyl Allegations

Whitney Purvis‘ ex, Weston Gosa Sr., is mourning the tragic death of his 16-year-old son Weston Jr. as more details about his loss come to light.

As Perezcious readers know, Whitney heartbreakingly revealed the teenager died on Monday morning. His stepmother Amy Gosa (lower inset) shared that they found him “not breathing,” tried CPR, and an ambulance was called, but there was nothing to be done. She noted he suffered from various health conditions, such as diabetes, but didn’t get into the details. Just an absolutely devastating situation.

Weston lived with his father and stepmother ever since his mother lost custody last year for allegedly not paying child support. He was joined by his brother River, who the 16 & Pregnant alums also shared, as well as a half-brother who Weston Sr. and Amy shared. This is a massive loss for them all, and something they’re all having a difficult time wrapping their heads around.

Mourning the loss of his son, the father took to Facebook to pay tribute on Monday afternoon, writing alongside a throwback photo of the child:

“You’ll forever be my lil boy. I’ll live the rest of my days with you in my heart. God I wish this was all just a bad dream. You’re free now from all the complications you had to deal with for the last 6 years or so. Fly high baby boy, daddy loves you more than you could have ever known.”

He also updated his profile photo to a more recent selfie of the duo:

Gosh. Our heart hurts for this family. He was so young…

There are still so many questions as to what happened. An autopsy will be conducted to get to the bottom of the mystery, but it could take weeks for more answers. In the meantime, Amy is sharing more details about Weston’s health — in an effort to shut down some upsetting allegations spreading about the teen!

Speaking to The US Sun on Tuesday, the stepmother blasted rumors Weston was using drugs, saying:

“He had several health issues, so we’re thinking it was an underlying issue we didn’t know about. It’s very hurtful seeing all the comments saying he died from fentanyl.”

Oof. How unfortunate they have to deal with this. Let the family grieve in peace.

Amy said she hopes the eventual autopsy results will clear Weston’s name from these cruel rumors, noting his death was “so sudden and out of nowhere.” She explained:

“He was fine the night before. At first, we thought his blood sugar was low, but it wasn’t.”

Weston had type 1 diabetes, but he also had several other health challenges that may have led to his death, including Addison’s disease and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. Addison’s disease is a rare endocrine disorder in which the adrenal glands are unable to produce enough cortisol and aldosterone, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, and darkening of the skin, per the Cleveland Clinic. In some cases, symptoms can come on quickly and can be life-threatening. Those with type 1 diabetes have a higher likelihood of developing the autoimmune form of this disease, which is the most common form.

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is a genetic condition in which the body doesn’t produce enough of a protein that protects the lungs and liver called AAT. Per the Cleveland Clinic, some patients “never have symptoms or related organ damage, especially if they never smoke” but “others can have life-threatening conditions.”

It’s unclear if either of these conditions played into the shocking death. Time will tell. That said, it certainly sounds like Weston had a lot of medical issues impacting his short life. So tough. No wonder his father said he is “free now.”

Sharing how the rest of the family is doing, Amy candidly continued:

“We’re all very upset. Our kids are devastated. He’s got two brothers and they’re just broken.”

Despite some bumpy times with Whitney in the past, they are all leaning on one another in this dark time:

“We’re on good terms now. She’s devastated as well. She’s not doing good at all right now.”

We can’t imagine. No family should have to go through this. Sending them so much love! We hope the rumors will come to an end and that the family will get the chance to mourn this untimely passing without added stressors. They have set up a Spotfund fundraiser with a goal to raise $12,000 for funeral costs. Those who wish to support can do so HERE. R.I.P.
