The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards were a chance for Hollywood to celebrate the best that television has to offer — except the rest of the country’s invitations apparently got lost in the mail.
That’s because despite churning out some must-see moments, Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t quite able to attract many viewers to tune in on Sunday.

In fact, ABC‘s 2016 broadcast was actually the least watched Emmys… EVER!!!
According to Nielsen, only 11.3 million viewers watched Veep and Game of Thrones win big at El Lay’s Microsoft Theater over the weekend — down from 2015’s 11.87 million.
Anything over 10 million is still impressive in today’s cable-cutting world, but considering 1990’s ceremony managed to pull in 12.3 million viewers… that should give you an idea of the current state of television.
We just don’t get how anyone would voluntarily want to skip iconic moments, such as…

But let’s be honest… the Internet is killing viewership for all of TV — even specials like awards shows — so don’t freak out over primetime numbers just yet.
