Well this doesn’t sound very good!
In about a year, a committee will decide which country will be hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics! The only problem is, nobody seems to want to do it!
Cities continue to withdraw their bids for hosting duties, the latest being Krakow, Poland, which yesterday announced they’d be stepping out of the race after 70% of voters said they did NOT want to host the Olympics!
Earlier this year, Stockholm, Sweden also pulled out of the race saying it was too much of a financial investment, which basically means it’s WAY too expensive!
Strangely enough, this has been going on for quite some time as other cities such as St. Moritz, Switzerland and Munich, Germany also withdrew their bids due to disinterest from the public!
Oslo, Norway’s bid seems to be on shaky ground as well, and Ukraine’s bid seems to be out of the question with all of the turmoil in the country right now.
It looks like Almaty, Kazakhstan and Beijing, China are still in the running to host the 2022 Olympics, but the real question is: why doesn’t anyone want to host the games??
The two biggest issues right now seem to be concerns over the high costs of hosting the Olympics and the general public just flat out NOT wanting to deal with the large crowds the games bring in!
Who knew finding a host for the Olympics could be so difficult??
