The only thing good to come of this story is that the parents are locked up.
Back on Jan. 1, 2012, a 5-year-old named Alexa Linboom died after her parents forced her to drink more than two liters of grape soda and water. And now, they’ve finally been arraigned Friday on charges of murder, abuse and neglect.
The East Tennessee couple are accused of making the girl drink so much that her brain swelled and ruptured, and have been charged with murder, abuse and neglect.
The horrible human beings? Randall Vaughn and his wife Mary, who are both jailed on $500,000 bond each.
After the punishment, they brought the girl in to the hospital emergency room with “an abnormal body posture that indicates severe brain damage.” She was blue and unresponsive, according to an autopsy done in July 2013. That’s because she had been forced to drink approximately 2.4 liters of water and soda over one to two hours. AS PUNISHMENT.
It gets worse — and we’re sorry you’re about to read this…
After drinking that amount she began vomiting, urinated on herself and asked to take a bath, and then the report said:
“Outside of the bathtub, she tried to eat oatmeal with assistance then started clenching her hands.”
It was 2 to 3 hours LATER that she was taken to the hospital. The report continued:
“Caretakers told hospital staff that during the ride to the hospital, she sat up in the vehicle and played patty cake.”
She was pronounced brain dead two days later.
The autopsy states that the girl had moved to Tennessee to live with her father about three months before her death. The move was prompted by allegations of neglect at her previous home.
Her obituary describes her as a normal, happy little girl:
“Some of the things that brought enjoyment to her life was coloring, playing with her Barbie dolls, her love of animals, but her most joy came when playing with her brothers and sisters.”
THERE WERE OTHER KIDS.
Apparently she lived in the home with five other children, some of which were half-siblings. The kids were removed from the home and put into protective services.
We feel so sad, so sick over this. What is there to even say?
Parents like this deserve nothing but the worst. A child relies on you for protection and love, and if you fail all of that on purpose, then, nothing can be done for you.
Just awful.
