Hairspray 2 Axed!

We’re only mildly disappointed with this news and only because we’ll miss Zacquisha!
Though John Waters had been commissioned and completed the script for a sequel to Hairspray, the movie has been canned by the studio.
Hairspray director Adam Shankman confirmed the news, telling the press: “I’m going to kill that rumor now – that got killed. I was so happy with the first one, let’s leave well enough alone. It’s all good.”
No, it wasn’t very good, the first one, we mean. That’s probably why the second one will never come to be.
But we agree, let’s leave well enough alone. No need for theaters to be plagued with yet ANOTHER unnecessary sequel!
