White House To Amend SOME Restrictions With Cuba

White House To Amend SOME Restrictions With Cuba

The Obama Administration is putting together rules that would allow for some Cuba travel.
Along with Cuba travel, they’re also looking to develop a strong ability for Americans to send aid to Cuba for their economy.
It looks like the main goal here is to allow exchanges between the U.S. and Cuba in the form of academics, corporations, humanitarian groups, and athletic teams.
Here’s what an aide had to say on the subject:

(the policy is) “to go down there give a message of hope, to help the Cuban people forge their own future as they want, not necessarily as the way another government wants.”

And here’s more from State Department spokesman Mark Toner:

“Our overarching goal here is to encourage a more open environment in Cuba and increased respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. And, consistent with that objective, we’ve promoted measures to encourage the free flow of information and humanitarian items to the Cuban people.”

And a statement from White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton:

“…the president is going to continue to do things that are in the best interest of the United States and that help to create a more democratic environment and expand freedoms for the Cuban people.”

Inneresting!
What do U think of this plan to allow more exchanges with Cuba?
