This is kind of lame.
So yesterday, Reggie Bush handed back his Heisman Trophy because it was the right thing to do. He was a schmuck, he acknowledged it and so now it was time to move on.
As this has never happened before (an athlete returning the award) there really was no regulations to dictate what would happen next. Many assumed that the honor would go to the runner up from 2005, Vince Young. However, according to a statement from The Trustees of the Trust, that isn’t happening. Their statement reads:
“As a result of Reggie Bush’s decision to forfeit his title as Heisman winner of 2005, the Trustees have determined that there will be no Heisman Trophy winner for the year 2005.”
What?! Stoopid! And really unfair!
If this were the Miss America pageant, this would never fly! (Just ask Vanessa Williams!)
