Relive Rob Reiner & His Father Carl's Reenactment Of Poignant Final Scene From The Princess Bride -- Filmed Just Three Days Before Carl's Passing

As we mourn the tragic loss of Rob Reiner, there’s a touching moment between he and his father Carl Reiner worth looking back on.

The acclaimed director of The Princess Bride playfully honored the iconic film back in 2020 by recreating the closing scene with his actor father — filming it just three days before Carl ultimately passed away. Whoa.

in the scene, Carl tucks Rob into bed before Rob asks “grandpa” if he’ll read the story again the next day. Carl says the beloved line:

“As you wish.”

So, so sweet.

Carl died at age 98. Rob and his wife Michele were allegedly murdered by their son Nick on Sunday at age 78 and 68, respectfully. Nick was said to have “hated himself” and been resentful he didn’t have the kind of career as his father and grandfather. Oof. So sad.
