This is such an incredibly sad story.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, new details have emerged regarding the death of former Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown.

The autopsy reportedly also noted contributing circumstances, per Page Six, including immersion in water and the presence of methamphetamine in his system.

Now, Brown’s body is reportedly set to be released to his family for final arrangements.

The heartbreaking developments come days after a witness contacted 911 back on May 27 after spotting a man later identified as Brown near the Okanogan River in Washington. According to that account, the witness briefly looked away, heard a loud noise, and then saw the man floating face-down in the river’s swift current.

In the days that followed, Brown’s younger brother Bear Brown shared emotional updates about the situation. According to Bear, witnesses believed the individual in the river was Matt, and authorities were working to locate and recover the body. Those fears were later confirmed when authorities later identified the recovered body as Matt.

Of course, Matt was a very familiar face to fans of Discovery’s Alaskan Bush People, appearing on the reality series from 2014 until 2019. For many viewers, he was an unforgettable part of the Brown family’s television journey. And now, it’s over — and it’s all just so sad.

Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Matt during this difficult time.
