Brutal new details have emerged in James Handy’s final moments.
Last month, news broke that the Top Gun: Maverick actor was mercilessly stabbed to death at 81 years old. More details quickly emerged revealing the person who stabbed James was allegedly his girlfriend Wendy Gledhill’s son Michael Gledhill. According to dispatch audio, Michael called 911 himself to report “unknown trouble” and left a chilling hint at what had happened:
“I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
So creepy.
When authorities responded to the scene, they found James with a stab wound in his chest laying in his front yard. The Logan actor was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead. Now, gruesome new details have emerged in the case.

According to a Medical Examiner report seen by TMZ on Tuesday, James and Michael had gotten into a verbal altercation on Wendy’s front porch prior to the stabbing. Things continued to get more and more heated before Michael apparently overpowered James, mounting him and dragging him to the side of Wendy’s home. Per the report, he then went into the house and grabbed what “appeared to be a knife,” came back, and plunged it into James’ torso.
How awful.
When cops arrived, Michael waved them down and led them to the crime scene before turning himself in. He was booked in the Van Nuys Jail and charged with one count of murder. The 44-year-old’s bail was set at $2 million, jail records noted.
What a complete and total tragedy.
After the murder, James’ girlfriend Wendy revealed to TMZ that Michael was diagnosed with schizophrenia last summer and had been prescribed medication for his condition as he was becoming increasingly paranoid. According to Wendy, Michael stopped taking said medication about one week before James’ murder.
