A New Jersey babysitter has been accused of sexually assaulting and inappropriately bathing with a two-year-old child — and her defense appears to be WHAT?!
So, in a recent court appearance in the Garden State, 25-year-old babysitter2 Victoria Cranmer (pictured above in her mugshot) and her lawyer claimed that a Snapchat video allegedly depicting abuse against the toddler has been “blown out of proportion.” Uhhh…
Cranmer has been accused of the disturbing actions stemming from a May 6 incident that allegedly took place in a bathtub while she was babysitting in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. The embattled 25-year-old has since been charged with manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, sexual assault, possession of child sexual abuse material, and endangering.

But in her latest court hearing, per the Asbury Park Press and the US Sun, Cranmer’s lawyer tried to play down the accusations — which, like we said, reportedly involved a super-disturbing Snapchat video.
Defense attorney Marissa Koerner said the 14-second vid shows nothing more than an “innocent moment,” and NOT a crime, per the Asbury Park Press. Koerner went on to add:
“Anyone who has spent time caring for young children understands that children often have little appreciation for personal space or privacy. Young children routinely follow parents or caregivers into bathrooms, touch things, ask questions, are curious and fail to recognize ordinary social boundaries.”
And not done there, Koerner went on with even more:
“Children often engage in funny, spontaneous or strange behavior that adults record because the moment is memorable or humorous. The video has been blown out of proportion.”
Wait… WHAT?!
Is Cranmer’s attorney… blaming the two-year-old child?!?!?!?! Seriously?? That is the defense?!?!?! Woooow…
Ocean County Judge Kenneth Palmer apparently didn’t care much for it, calling the Snapchat video “bizarre” and “troubling.”
As for the video itself, while it has not been released (thankfully), police affidavits claim it was discovered by Cranmer’s former roommate on a phone that the other woman had previously given as a gift to the babysitter. The roommate got the phone back at some point, found the video, booted Cranmer from their shared home, and went straight to the cops, per the US Sun.

Cranmer was arrested after cops were able to match up a distinctive tattoo of hers — supposedly a pair of breasts (!) that had been inked on Cranmer’s leg, the US Sun claims — while also matching her voice to the one in the clip. NK News claims cops have since found several other videos of Cranmer with the alleged victim, as well.
Terrible…
For now, Judge Palmer ordered Cranmer be held without bail while she awaits future court dates.
