The father of Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz has a surprising reaction to her husband Kristopher Karolkiewicz, who killed her and their six children in an apparent murder-suicide.
As we previously reported, the family, including the pets, was found dead in their Grand Haven Township home in Michigan earlier this month after firefighters responded to reports of white smoke coming from the residence. Law enforcement soon realized they didn’t die from the fire, though. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office claimed that Kristopher fatally shot Amanda and the kids before setting the house on fire, which caused their pets to die from smoke inhalation. He then died by suicide.

What happened here is such a tragedy and a nightmare for their loved ones, especially Amanda’s parents. You would expect them to be angry at Kristopher for causing such pain. However, Amanda’s dad has another feeling about him. Gary Anderson told The Detroit News on Friday that he “still loves” Kristopher despite what he did:
“I love my daughter Mandy, and I loved those six children. In a way, I still love Kris.”

At the same time, Gary added that he’s struggling “to understand the why.” And he wishes he knew now:
“I’m sure that will come out in the future. I have no idea why. Speculation is what I have a disdain for. It’s very clear that he did what he did.”
At this time, no motive for the murder-suicide has been revealed. All we know is that the couple were struggling in their marriage after Kristopher’s alleged affair with an intern years before the crime.
