Re-Watching Dolly Parton's Old Duet With Kelly Clarkson Will Warm Your Heart On This Sad Day

We’re still reeling over Dolly Parton‘s death — and we aren’t the only ones.

Over on the social media accounts for Kelly Clarkson‘s eponymous talk show, fans are reminiscing after Dolly and the longtime daytime TV host and American Idol alum got together to sing a duet rendition of the iconic song I Will Always Love You — a duet that is now going mega-viral again on Tuesday after it was first filmed back during the fourth season of the talk show.

In the old resurfaced clip, the Kelly Clarkson Show host and the country music legend, who just died at 80, got together to reminisce about the song Dolly made memorable.

First, Dolly told the tale of how Kevin Costner and the folks in charge of the ’90s flick The Bodyguard called the Dollywood icon and asked if they could use the song in the movie. Then, Parton reminisced about how floored she was the first time she heard it coming out of Whitney Houston‘s mouth, on her car radio.

And then, Dolly and Kelly sung it together! Check it out (below):

Amazing…

What’s crazy, for one, is that the Kelly Clarkson Show‘s social media accounts actually published this old clip as a ‘best of Kelly’ nostalgic look-back just before Dolly’s death was announced on Tuesday. Such sad timing…

And we’re not the only ones going wild for the actual duet, either. Fans over on X (Twitter) are singing Dolly’s praises about it now, just hours after her death was announced online.

Here are just a few of the many reactions:

“Im devastated. I adore her so, so much. But she says don’t be sad, and that she’s in the arms of Jesus. So I’ll take it”

“Hopefully my grandfather is up in heaven visiting with Dolly… that was his crush in the 1990s. RiP”

“What an incredibly sad day today is….. we will indeed always love you Dolly.”

“Not me already in a puddle seeing this again. God she was a QUEEN. Forever missed you will be Dolly!”

“Thank you for sharing. Dolly is a light in our lives and it remains in Our hearts, especially today.”

“Devastated. I’m crying again watching this clip”

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Dolly’s family, friends, and loved ones.

The world lost such a true legend of light and happiness today!
