Whoa! Mariah Carey & Ella Langley Fans Are Duking It Out In Lizzo's Comment Section - Here's Why!

Ella Langley broke Mariah Carey‘s record this week for the longest run of a single at the No. 1 spot of the Billboard Top 100.

Mariah, whose timeless holiday anthem All I Want For Christmas Is You returns to No 1. year after year, was the current holder of the crown at 22 weeks. That all changed on Tuesday, though, when Ella’s country hit Choosin’ Texas bumped it off with an impressive 23 consecutive weeks. Both women deserve to be celebrated for their incredible milestones.

Naturally, fans of both took to social media to show their love. Ella’s “fellas” showered her with congratulatory messages, and Mariah’s lambs honored the longevity of their fav’s success, who will always be No. 1 in their hearts (and likely on the charts again when the holidays come back around).

Even celebrity fans had figurative flowers to give! Lizzo took to X (Twitter), and praised the 57-year-old living legend, writing:

“Can we just appreciate how Mariah Carey has held all of the records for longest #1s? With “one sweet day” & “all I want for Christmas is you” … a f[**]king Icon”

Simple enough, right? Just a statement honoring Mariah for the records she’s held, giving her credit where credit is due.

Unfortunately, it did not go over well with a lot of Ella fans, who felt the timing of the tweet brought some shade with it.

Some of the replies read:

“That was done over a span of 7 years and Ella under 1 year”

“is this supposed to be shade to ella langley??? why mention this the day she breaks the record”

Meanwhile, MiMi fans were reveling in Lizzo’s comments:
