About time!

As some of you might be aware, SAG and AFTRA have been working on new contracts for their members that will be more financially efficient for everyone. It was announced today that one of the changes in the tentative agreements for new feature-primetime union actors is to drop the mandate requirement that air transportation must be first class.

Now, we’re sure there are some people in the union who see that as an extreme loss to their privileges. However, the amount of money saved will allow a substantial increase to the minimum-wage rates and a hike in the health and pension contributions from 15% to 16.5%.

Nothing wrong with either of those things. Should the pact be agreed upon, the new rule would go into effect as of July 1st.

So the next time you fly out of LAX, you might want to take a look around your section. You’ll never know what big movie star could hanging out in the aisle!
