Wow. This is truly touching.
Now that the official announcement has been made that Prince William has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, more details are coming out about the engagement, and according to palace sources, he gave his bride-to-be the engagement ring that his father, Prince Charles, got for his mother, the late Princess Diana!
What an absolutely lovely gesture. That must have been such a big step for him.
According to an official statement:
“Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya. Prince William has informed the queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father. Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.”
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Phillip, are reportedly “absolutely delighted for them both,” and soon after, Charles said:
“We’re obviously thrilled. They’ve been practicing long enough.”
Middleton’s parents, Michael and Carole, also were in agreement:
“They make a lovely couple, they’re great fun to be with and we’ve had a lot of laughs together. We’ve got to know William really well. We all think he’s wonderful and we’re extremely fond of him. We wish them every happiness for the future.”
Although the location and details are not being released right now, expect the ceremony to take place during the spring or summer of 2011!
