Now the 31-year-old actor has officially been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Held in the hospital prison ward, wearing a light green gown, Brea did not speak or enter a plea.
He is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation and is being held without bail.
His family is offering their support, calling him a “compassionate, gentle, intelligent, spiritual and loving man” who is in need of help.
