Comcast And NBCU Merger Is Imminent

It should be any day now!

The Comcast-NBCU merger will go to the Federal Communications Commission for final approval this week. The new programming and cable giant is said to be official on January 28th.

Sources say that a vote was expected first at the FCC, followed by approval from the Justice Department. This speed would allow NBC-Universal to close out its payroll by the last Friday of this month and for the new company to take over.

The FCC is scheduled to have a meeting on January 25th, but the vote can happen without a formal meeting. Some of the commissioners are trying to have conditions added to the merger. Commissioner Michael Copps wants more diversity in programming and a strong commitment to net neutrality.
