Fans of the hit show Mad Men have been concerned with the lack of news about the fate od Matthew Weiner, the creator of the hit series. Everyone had heard that his contract was up this season and didn’t know what that meant for the man behind the dapper gents and classy dames they’ve grown to love.
But have no fear lovers of Jon Hamm and Co. – Matthew is ready to stay! He told sources that though there has been no deal finalized with the network, he’s currently “not looking for a new job.” He added to sources:
├óΓé¼┼ôI think all of AMC├óΓé¼Γäós decisions about their scheduling and so forth have nothing to do with me, and I don├óΓé¼Γäót have a deal yet. I have every intention of making the show when they decide to work out their business with Lionsgate. I can├óΓé¼Γäót wait to come back to work. I have said over and over in public that I want the show to go on and on and on until it has worn out its welcome with viewers and we can├óΓé¼Γäót think of anything more for the characters to do. I am not looking for a new job. I├óΓé¼Γäóm dying to go back to work. But the truth is I don├óΓé¼Γäót even know what their plans are. We have not started writing. I am not back at work. My contract expired. They are fighting over a very lucrative property, and who is going to pay for it to get made; it├óΓé¼Γäós one of the biggest perils of success ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ everyone wants a piece of it now and they are fighting over who is gonna get the biggest chunk. Then they will come to me because talent is last. It would be heartbreaking for me if they don├óΓé¼Γäót work it out, horrifying really. It would be a shame for fans to never get to see what great stuff we have planned for Don and company.├óΓé¼┬¥”
So many balls up in the air; how tricky the biz truly is!
Hopefully, we’ll have more good news like this in the coming weeks about the future of the show. We think it looks promising, though, if Matthew remains at the helm.
