More Drama For The Golden Globes!

At least this has nothing to do with Ricky Gervais. (That was getting really old.)
Seems the Hollywood Foreign Press Association finds itself in the midst of another dirty lawsuit. Last month, The Michael Russell Group, a PR company, filed suit against the HFPA claiming they were lied to and canned by the Association “unceremoniously.” The MRG alleged that the HFPA accepted money and gifts in exchange for Golden Globes, which they’re calling an act of “payola.”
But the HFPA is firing back, having filed a lawsuit of its own, saying the MRG committed fraud when they handled several deals on behalf of the Association that more so benefited themselves than the HFPA. They’re also suing them for violating the terms of their contract with this allegation of “payola,” claiming the whole story is a “manufactured a fanciful tale of Hollywood intrigue.”
Believe us, it’s not that intriguing.
Not a great start for the HFPA this year, huh?
