Operation “Keep LiLo Out Of The Clink” may have gotten a lucky break.
Over the weekend, we reported that the surveillance tape from the jewelry store Lindsay Lohan allegedly robbed was sold to the highest bidder by the folks who own the store. Following the sale, the jewelers released a statement explaining why they did this, insisting that this LiLo scandal has cost them a lot of money and they had no other choice. A rep for the store explains that customers “stayed away from the store because of the paparazzi and the controversy,” and that his clients had to find a way to recover their losses, though what they sold the tape for wasn’t as much as they hoped.
The tape and stills are actually in the hands of the Associated Press and now, they handle who can license the material. Access to the tape comes at a steep price, but the rep reveals that the video will also be streamed on the jeweler’s new website, necklacevideo.com, which should be up and running soon.
Oh yeah. They aren’t milking this for all it’s worth AT ALL!
Meanwhile, Team LiLo isn’t so concerned that the tape is being wide-released. In fact, according to sources, Lindsay is relishing in this, as it proves what she’s been saying from the start – the jewelers are greedy liars who are just trying to capitalize on her situation.
Considering the shady deal they’ve made, we’re inclined to believe her, which is exactly what Lindsay is hoping will happen with Judge Schwartz. The prosecution practically begged the jewelry store not to release the tape, fearing it would destroy their case. As that cat is totally unleashed from the bag, Lindsay is hoping to garner some sympathy and sway the D.A. to seeing things her way.
As in, no jail time.
Depending on what exactly can be seen on that tape, perhaps she might have a shot at staying free after all!
