Well, it’s been a little over a year since we’ve heard about any dice rolling on the Monopoly movie adaptation and were beginning to think that Universal and Ridley Scott had come to their senses…we were wrong.
Sigh.
According to Hasbro ECO Brian Goldner, the filmmaker has every intention of moving forward with the Monopoly movie, as Golder explains:
“[It’s] still happening and we’re developing a great story. It’s a very fun take. Ridley is still the perfect creative steward, because he creates these great, fictionalized worlds…Suffice it to say, it’s a story about a family with a history, and we’re projecting that into current times. But it’s not ‘Wall Street’. It’s more about property ownership and of the play-pattern of the game.”
That’s a shame, considering this was what we last heard about the movie’s plot. If you don’t have time to click the link, we’ll sum it up for you. It wasn’t good.
At least Ridley Scott is too pre-occupied with the film Prometheus to begin work on the Hasbro board-to-screen adaptation, so they still have plenty of time to develop it and workout the stinks kinks.
