It’s a start!
Ever since TSA introduced new full body scanners that show extremely details images of fliers’ bodies, LOTS of people have been complaining…and it looks like the Transportation Security Administration is finally going to do something about it.
TSA has announced that they’ll adjust their full body scanners, so that they’ll still show potentially dangerous hidden items, but without showing passengers’ “naked” images. They’ll use generic images instead.
Here’s what TSA Adminstrator John Pistole had to say about it:
“This software upgrade enables us to continue providing a high level of security through advanced imaging technology screening, while improving the passenger experience at checkpoints.”
Critics are not appeased, and are complaining that their privacy is still being violated. Others are also nervous about the low doses of radiation emitted from the machines’ high-speed X-rays, and OTHERS say that it’s all a waste because the machines aren’t effective!
Clearly, there are much bigger issues here, but we are pleased that TSA is at least making somewhat of an effort to listen to passengers’ complaints and respect their privacy.
What do U think? Are U pleased with TSA’s efforts here? Or is it not enough?
