You wouldn’t steal another person’s song, would’ja Usher???
We’ve just learned that Usher has been brought to court by songwriter Ernest Lee Straughter, who’s accusing the singer of stealing the song Burn from him!
Apparently, the case was brought in front of a judge last month, who decided that there was “sufficient possibility” that plagiarism had taken place, after accepting a musicologist’s report that noted “substantial similarity” between Usher’s song and Straughter’s track The Reasons Why.
According to Slaughter, his track was featured on an album by R&B group Reel Tight in 1998 under the name No More Pain.
Before the case is brought in front of a jury, Usher’s attorneys are attempting to convince the judge to “re-examine whether there was any chance he was familiar with Straughter├óΓé¼Γäós work.”
So far, it looks like Straughter is winning this one, but Usher’s team is doing everything in their power to change the judge’s mind.
Check out the two songs (above) and let us know if U think that Usher is guilty of plagiarism.
