He’s baaaaaaack!
Last night, Tim Allen’s new sitcom Last Man Standing debuted on ABC, and it brought in a VERY solid 13 million viewers!
Tim’s ratings were SO solid that his show earned some bragging rights for being the biggest 8 p.m. debut for a TV comedy show in over 7 years! Wowsa!
He did get some criticism though for the following joke, which his character made in the premiere episode:
“I just don├óΓé¼Γäót think your kid should go to that school. You know how that ends up: Boyd dancing on a float.”
Some viewers are claiming that the joke is homophobic. Here’s what Tim has said in response:
“It wasn├óΓé¼Γäót meant to be offensive. It was meant to be a reflection on this guy├óΓé¼Γäós limited perspective.”
We hear ya, Tim, but tread carefully! Your character may have a “limited perspective,” but if that results in lots of anti-gay comments, we have a feeling audiences aren’t going to keep buying that argument.
For now, we’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, Tim. Congrats on a strong return to TV, and please keep that character of yours in check!
Did U tune in for the Last Man Standing series premiere? How do U think it compares to Home Improvement???
