We knew The CW made a good call by not making their streaming deal exclusive with Netflix!
Earlier this month, CW President Mark Pedowitz announced that the network had signed a 4-year non-exclusive licensing deal with Netflix, in which 700+ hours of CW shows would be available for streaming.
Now, the network has ALSO signed a five-year licensing agreement with Hulu, which will provide both Hulu Plus and the free version of Hulu with CW programming by the end of the year!
Here’s what Prez Pedowitz had to say about the new deal:
“Our new arrangement with Hulu only affirms the incredible value of The CW├óΓé¼Γäós series, as well as amplifying the immense power of the broadcast network model. As we increase the amount of year round original programming on The CW, this deal provides our shows with greater exposure on a new platform, helping build even more awareness that will drive viewers back to the network and its affiliates. We see this as a win for everyone involved, the network, the stations, Hulu and ultimately, the viewers.”
And here’s more from Hulu’s SVP of Content Andy Forssell:
“The CW programming is a great example of the kind of in-season content we want to make available on our service ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ high-quality, engaging, serialized shows that fans passionately love. Making these shows available on Hulu and Hulu Plus will allow new and existing fans to get their fix of The CW├óΓé¼Γäós great shows anytime and anywhere.”
How exciting! Now you’ll have NO excuse for falling behind on Vampire Diaries!
Speaking of which…we can’t wait to meet evil Klaus‘ mother Esther next week! Creeeeepy!!!!
