It’s been a couple years since we’ve seen India.Arie on the music scene – and guess we know why now.
The singer’s former manager is not only suing her for money she claims she is owed, but she’s also suing her for apparently sabotaging her own career, costing the manager even more money.
Noreen Nalli filed a lawsuit in Tennessee, alleging that after working for Arie between the years of 2005-2009, she was dropped without notice. And now she’s owed money from her former client. Of course, Arie isn’t having it though, claiming that she actually OVERPAID the manager – so now she’s countersuing.
But, what’s even worse is that in the court docs, Nalli says that Arie ruined her own career by rejecting offers, canceling shows, and was unavailable for weeks at a time.
The only thing Arie’s current rep has to say about the lawsuit is that:
“she remains hopeful that the matter will be resolved amicably.”
It HAS been a long time since we’ve seen India.Arie produce any new music or go on tours. We can only wonder if it’s really, truly her own fault or the manager’s fault for not trying to do more for her client.
And it sucks for us because we actually really enjoyed her music! We’d love to hear some new tracks, but who knows when that will ever happen.
Looks like it’s going to be a she-said-she-said battle in court.
