And she’s coming on for one MAJOR arc!
Hey, remember the movie Stepmom? You know, the one where Susan Sarandon gets cancer and she has to teach Julia Roberts how to raise her kids and you’re weeping hysterically by the end because watching Susan go through chemo just rips out her heart and chucks it into a pack of hungry dogs?
Guess what? She’s at it again! But maybe this time her debilitating disease might make you chuckle a few times too.
Susan is poised to join the cast of The Big C as Joy, “a cancer survivor who is using her unique experience to inspire and motivate others.” She will befriend Laura Linney’s character Cathy and play a major part in a major arc of the season.
According to creator Darlene Hunt:
“She’s another cancer survivor who has used her cancer experience in a unique way trying to inspire other people. She makes Cathy question whether she’s doing enough with her own cancer experience.”
Dark. Twisty. Where does the humor come in?
Eh, we’ll still watch. We’re a sucker for a weepy, sad story. Just look at our VHS copy of Stepmom. Worn. Out!
