This is absolutely horrible.
A 17-year-old teenager named Trayvon Martin was killed three weeks ago in a city north of Orlando, Florida by a neighborhood crime watch volunteer who went out of his way to shoot him – even though he was carrying nothing but a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea. However, this guy is claiming the horrific act was in self-defense – and he has NOT been arrested!
Naturally, public outry is mounting, and the lawyers for the poor kid’s family are now asking the Department of Justice to intervene!
The Sanford Police Department has not released any details of their investigation, but have released the multiple 911 calls that came in after neighbors heard what was going on, and believe us when we say it is absolutely CLEAR that this was not an act done out of self-defense.

As attorney Natalie Jackson sums up:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt is so clear that this was a 17-year-old boy pleading for his life, and someone shot him in cold blood.”
Authorities are maintaining that under state law the murderer, George Zimmerman, cannot be arrested, as a Florida self-defense law called Stand Your Ground protects citizens who feel reasonably threatened to protect themselves.
As Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee maintains:
“The evidence doesn’t establish so far that Mr. Zimmerman did not act in self-defense. We don’t have anything to dispute his claim of self-defense at this point.”
Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father, concludes:
“Everybody is outraged. There is no justice in this. The public is outraged because my son only had snacks in his pocket, no weapon whatsoever, not even a fingernail file. For him to be murdered by someone who weighs more than 100 pounds than him, more than 10 years older than him, this is an outrage.”
It’s beyond an outrage. It’s unacceptable.
We sincerely hoping that the Feds are intervening at this point because it would be absolutely shameful if they weren’t.
Laws like this just should not exist, plain and simple.
Our hearts truly go out to Travon’s family during this impossibly difficult time.
The justice system has let an innocent boy and his family down.
