She just won’t budge!
Madonna continues to take heat in wake of the Colorado shootings.
Critics, pundits, and even politicians chastise her refusal to remove toy guns from her stage performances for the remainder of the MDNA Tour.
But at least she’s not going to jail!
Earlier it seemed she could possibly face arrest in Europe for her on-stage behavior. It turns out that was never likely.
In the court of public opinion, however, we’ve yet to reach a verdict.
Her theatrics appear a bit insensitive from some vantage points.
Which stinks, because she’s an inspiration to millions and we wouldn’t want any of the Aurora victims or their loved ones to think she’s making light of their suffering.
We know firsthand that the Queen of Pop is NOT a callous woman. She’s kind and has a wonderfully big heart.
At the same time, we understand that when one feasts with Her Madgesty one must expect a side-dish of controversy whether they ordered it or not!
She is not just a FABULOUS singer/songwriter but also a true artist in many senses of the word.
Madonna seeks to entertain, yes, but also to provoke and inspire.
This Material Girl refuses to adapt her stage theatrics but she is never afraid to respond to critics.
She said:
“There seems to be a growing intolerance around the world… I’m calling attention to that intolerance and asking people to pay attention, to wake up to see how we are just creating more chaos in the world. Art is there to track what’s going on in the world. To make social commentary.“
Hmmm.
We completely adore Her Madgesty but this is a tough situation all around!
