It’s only because the actor decided NOT to use a stunt double!
That’s right, James McAvoy is hard at work on production of his new movie The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby in New York City … and from the looks of it, this gig really is HARD WORK!
This past Friday, James shot scenes with co-star Jessica Chastain, during which he is struck by a passing taxi and flips right over the hood!

And apparently, he was only wearing protective gear on his knees and elbows!
That looks INTENSE!
But clearly, with Jessica laughing over his mangled body, he must not have been in too much pain!
Phew! We wouldn’t want anything happening to such a flawless face!
