Here’s a hint for all eco-friendly entrepreneurs before you get into the organic business: look up the word organic and make sure you understand what it means!

A complaint was filed with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program against thirteen natural beauty companies including Stella McCartney Care 100% Organic Active Ingredients for making false organic claims.

The complaints argues that the companies involved did not use any certified organic products even though they used “organic” in the products description.

Stoopid!

Horst Rechelbacher, founder of Intelligent Nutrients as well as founder and former owner of Aveda Corp. says the term ‘organic’ polluting the industry.

He says “Consumers are being ripped off by marketers who don├óΓé¼Γäót want to go the extra mile to be organic certified” adding “It├óΓé¼Γäós damaging ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ it├óΓé¼Γäós definitely damaging, and it├óΓé¼Γäós going to create consumer confusion. Then it will create consumer mistrust.”

The companies that filed the complaint hopes the USDA will step in and oversee products that claim to contain organic ingredients.
