Hip-hop mogul, activist, avid yoga enthusiast and creator of Def-Jam Records Russell Simmons is embarking on a whole new kind of business enterprise: he’s gonna sell you the spirit of Yoga!
Russell is teaming up with Gaiia Enterprises Global Ltd. to develop Tantris, a brand enveloping women’s and men’s activewear, yoga equipment, prayer beads, and relaxation paraphernalia.
Simmons talks about his yearning to bring yoga to the masses:
“Yoga is meant to relieve the noise. After doing yoga, I feel alive and awakened. I want to give people that feeling or to teach people who want to learn more about yoga,” Simmons said.
The label will only be available in select department and specialty stores, but ideally, Simmons hopes to extend Tantris as a stand alone brand, with it’s OWN stores, yoga studios and juice bars.
