This is atrocious!
Mary Kate Morris and Nicole Marchetto, a lesbian couple, were watching the Baltimore Ravens play the Cleveland Browns on September 26. At half-time, they went to buy a beer and some fries and grabbed a plastic cup from the counter to put ketchup in.
While waiting in line, they engaged in what Marchetto called “casual kissing.” Once that started, a security guard told the women to “stop making a scene.” They were asked to stop three times but continued because ”the kissing was heartfelt and decent in the real sense and was not any different from what numerous law-abiding straight couples were doing all around us,” according to Marchetto.
Of course, the security guard did not see it this way and proceeded to escort them out of the stadium. When asked why they were being forced to leave, the security guard accused them of stealing beer (which they did not do).
Later, when asked to give a statement on the matter, Jan Hardesty, a media spokesperson for the Maryland Stadium Authority, said the ejection was a result of “unauthorized removal of inventory,” referring to the plastic cup they used for the ketchup.
WTF?! Seriously? A plasitc cup?
What’s even more disturbing about this is that there reportedly straight couples kissing around them, which means that the security guard picked them solely because they were lesbians.
There is no excuse for this! The stadium staff should be held accountable for their bigoted actions!
