Tokyo’s Figure Skating World Championships Postponed

The figure skating world championships, which were supposed to take place in Tokyo, have been called off… for now.
The news comes in wake of the tragic state Japan is in after being rocked by an earthquake and then tsunami.
Said ISU president Ottavio Cinquanta:

“The ISU’s primary concern [is] for the safety of all participants, spectators and members of concerned entities as well as the travel advisories from many governments to avoid travel to Japan until the situation is settled.”

This is for the best, but it’s yet another loss Japan faces in this tragedy.
